Assassin's Creed Valhalla: All Shard locations guide (2024)

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla requires you to find Shards in Counting Sheep. This is the third part of A Fated Encounter, the Isle of Skye quest arc. Our guide helps you with all Shard locations so you can finally open the doorway in the Cave of Gold.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Crossover Story guide: A Fated Encounter – All five Shard locations in Counting Sheep

After solving the Fairy Glen puzzle, Kassandra will leave you in the Cave of Gold. Then, the markers for the five Shards in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will appear. You can check the map below for their locations in the Isle of Skye (you can collect them in any order):

Hungladder Shard

This village is filled with hostiles. Make your way to the center to find a narrow corridor under a bridge. There, you’ll find a Shard.

Note: Duntulm Camp, which is further north, has the Hero’s Sword.

Excavation Site Shard

The Shard is behind a breakable wall. You do need to find explosives:

• You can look for red vases next to a broken-down cart along the southern road from the Excavation Site.
• Alternatively, you can just use the Incendiary Powder Trap ability.

Note: This is also where you can pick up the Treasure Hoard map.

Dun Ardtreck Shard

Make your way to the eastern coast of the bandit camp (you should see this in one of the images below). Swim close to the rock formations and dive underwater. Use your Odin Sight to ping your surroundings, and you’ll spot the Dun Ardtreck Shard in the submerged ruins.

Note: This is also where you can pick up the Spear of Leonidas.

Brother’s Cave and Inverarish Shard

The Inverarish Shard is on a smaller island across Kilteraglen. First, go inside Brother’s Cave. If you check the device, there’s a note saying that two bros stole the item.

Make your way south to Inverarish. Check the back of the large house and move the wooden shelf. This should give you a clear line of sight, allowing you to shoot the door lock. Inside the hut is another note saying that one of the siblings died, and the other made his way deeper into the forest.

Use your Odin Sight and follow the footsteps heading northeast. Eventually, you’ll see a clearing with a couple of bears. There’s a wooden platform hanging from a tree. Shoot the winch so you can reach it, and you’ll find the Inverarish Shard next to the second brother’s corpse.

Note: If you want to open the chest inside the large house, you can pick up the key at the bottom of the well.

Fairy Pools Shard

The Fairy Pools Shard device is hidden behind the waterfalls. However, it’s missing by the time you get there. Turn around and you’ll see an old lady who wants to sacrifice you to the fairies.

You can either pay her 500 gold, fight her and the wolves, or, if you have level 3 in Flyting, convince her to give you the Shard without problems. As far as I know, the old woman doesn’t play a major role, though you’ll get to see her in the concluding chapter if she manages to survive.

In any case, once you have all five Shards in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll complete Counting Sheep. You can return to the Cave of Gold to solve the Light puzzle.
