In a recent announcement, UHD was ranked as one of the most diverse liberal colleges in the U.S. Students and faculty work to create “an environment that welcomes and embraces students from all backgrounds.”

Liberals outnumber conservatives at the University of Texas schools too: At UT Dallas, 42 percent of students are liberals while 11 percent are conservative. The numbers are similar at UT Austin, where 43 percent of students are liberal, 13 percent are conservative, and 37 percent are independents or apolitical.

Texas changed from a one-party Democratic state to a one-party Republican state with the 1980 presidential election of Ronald Reagan. Definitely very liberal when you look at college dem/repub participation and population demographics. A lot of students are from the north, which balance out the southern tendencies. Greek life tends to lean right but they're mostly caught up with greek life to comment on political climate.
