How much does it pay to start the Knoxville Nationals? ›

Starting Saturday's main event pays a minimum of $15,000. But simply making the 24-car field is half the battle. It's all about earning points. The Knoxville Nationals format pays drivers points every time they go on the track on their qualifying nights.

Points for Last Chance Heats: 50 points to the winner with a three-point reduction per position thereafter. Heat races are inverted by eight with the top-four finishers only transferring to the night's 25-lap A-main. Points for heat races go like this: 100-97-94-91-88-85-82-79-76-73.

Friday: FVP "HARD KNOX" QUALIFYING NIGHT

The top 4 finishers from the Hard Knox A-Main will earn the 21-24 starting spots in Saturday's A Main. Friday's event will consist of split field qualifying, 6 heats (invert 4), C Main, two B Main's and the Hard Knox 25 lap A Main.

This year's edition has grown even more with the total purse for the four-day event exceeding a million dollars. The winner's share for Saturday has been upped to $185,000, and making the main event is worth $15,000 – up $5,000 from only a year ago. The pursuit of Knoxville Nationals glory begins Wednesday, Aug.

NEWS: The 2024 Knoxville Championship Series 360 purse will payout $2000 to win, $1000 for fifth, $650 for tenth and $350 to start. This increase comes from our partners with the 360 Booster Club! This is an increase of $1,775 per night, most of which is added to the bottom half of the field.

The event is held for four days (Wednesday-Saturday) and is attended annually by approximately 25,000 fans.

A perfect score (quick time, heat win, feature win) is 500. Teams will take the highest point total of their two nights to set their starting positions for the Saturday Championship Events. The top 24 cars in points are locked into the A Main starting in order by point totals, highest point total starts on the pole.
