Nier: Automata - YoRHa Betrayers Quest Walkthrough (2024)

There are many sights and sounds to take in while you explore the vast, desolate world Nier: Automata offers. While you will naturally progress through each zone, one of the main draws that will keep you revisiting them over time is the large number of sidequests present in the game that offer unique rewards and fascinating details about the world and characters.

Furthermore, sidequests are an essential part of Nier: Automata and are needed to obtain the many different endings in the game and acquire weapons you cannot get anywhere else. The "YoRHa Betrayers" sidequest, for example, has an exclusive lance tied to it that is required to see one of the best endings in the game.

YoRHa Betrayers Walkthrough

Before you can take on the YoRHa Betrayers sidequest, there are a few things you need to take care of before it becomes available to you. First, you will need to progress past the Goliath boss encounter that grants you access to the Flooded City section of the world.

Once there, you will receive an email from Operator 60 that alerts 2B, and 9S that rogue androids have stolen supplies and need to be taken care of as soon as possible. You can find more information on the quest below and the complete walkthrough in the next section!

Objectives

• Search for runaway Androids in the marked areas.
• Chase after and defeat 22B and 64B.
• Defeat 8B.
• Head to the Resistance Camp and speak with Anemone.

Rogue Android Locations

After receiving the email about the rogue androids, open your mini-map to find three red zones indicating their whereabouts.

The androids will be in any of these three areas and are completely randomized, so thoroughly check out all of them. You will know you found them when a brief interaction between them, 2B and 9S, plays out.

Android Encounter One

After your interaction with the rogue androids, you will have to fight them in an attempt to detain them. This encounter can be annoying for various reasons, but the main reason is that they're combat androids and hardly bat an eye when getting hit by melee weapons.

However, your trusty companion Pod 042, will help make things more manageable. Firing off continuous, rapid streams of fire from your Pod while simultaneously beating them down with your weapon seems to be the way to handle them, as your unceasing bullet fire and strikes will keep them stunlocked.

Relocating The Androids

Once you whittle the android's health down to roughly 65 percent,they will flee the area, having you look for them once more.

For this step, the androids will be in one of the two remaining red zones from earlier (they will still be marked on your map).

When you find where they ran off, you will fight them like you did last time, except you will be forced to kill them this time around.

Defeat 8B

After defeating 22B and 64B, another brief cutscene will play, where former YoRHa Captain 8B appears to find that 22B and 64B have died in combat.

She will charge in once she realizes you were the culprit, beginning the encounter. 8B has access to a wide range of weapons, allowing her to strike you from just about any distance, and is hyper-aggressive and deals severe damage.

For the most part, 8B can be handled similarly to 22B and 64B, with minor differences. Due to her tremendous range and excellent movement speed, we advise against using your Pod's Missile Launcher and turn to its Gatling Gun and Lasers.

You can briefly stun her with an onslaught of bullets and get several uncontested slashes in before having to back off when she recovers.

Dodge her attacks and repeat until she's defeated! - Furthermore, you can start this mission severely underleveled, and we advise against doing so. We recommend being at least Level 20 for this sidequest.

Speak To Anemone At The Resistance Camp

With 8B defeated, search their body to receive 10,000G, 400 EXP, and the Type-4O Lance. After doing that, 9S and 2B will reflect on slaughtering their kind.

Feeling uneasy, they decided it'd be best to speak with Anemone back at the Resistance Camp for more information. You'll learn that they didn't actually steal the supplies, deepening the mystery and ending the quest.
