Super Size Me Review: Inspiring Movie
I am a teacher who watched this with middle school students in Health Class. One 11 year old student's review: After watching an original documentary called SUPER SIZE ME, by Morgan Spurlock, my idea of fast food restaurants were completely changed. I think this is a very inspiring film because America is slowly turning into the fattest nation in the world! It talks about how the government has helped fast food restaurant grow into a business that fattens people by the day. It also talks about how they try and petition against them by making them come up with healthier choices. I think this is a great educational film for you and your child to watch, because it inspires to eat healthier, and think about why you shouldn’t take a sip of that addictive co*ke. There are a few scenes that are advisable to fast-forward through, including a very graphic scene of a stomach staple surgery. It also talks about how Morgan’s romance life has been depressing and “slow.” There is also some strong language including two uses of the “F” word. There is also a few uses of s**t, and c**p. Your child should be at least 12 to watch it with a parent. Overall, this is an inspiring movie about how we need to make a difference in the nation because if we don’t soon over half of the U.S. will be obese and so will the next generation. One 13-year-old student's reviewIn the shocking documentary, “Supersize Me” Morgan Spurlock challenges McDonald’s by eating McDonald’s for every meal, for a month. It is such an important film to show to your kids but watch out as there is profanity, references to sex, and shows numerous scenes where they draw blood. I believe anyone 10 and up should be able to watch this as long as the parents mute the bad words and skip over the parts where sex is mentioned. It is really important to show children and teens this so they can be geared with the right tools for eating right.
