Flossing Regularly is a Healthy Habit to Establish
To avoid the displeasure of the disappointing “we found cavities” speech from your dentist or dental hygienist, takesteps towards a healthier mouth by flossing regularly. There are many different types of floss including traditional floss, flavored floss, floss picks, and Waterpiks. Many orthodontic patients find that the Waterpik water flosser is ideal for removing debris from braces due to the ease of use.
Braces can be hard to maneuver lodged food and the Waterpik can easily (and gently) remove the debris by spraying a stream of steady water between the teeth. This action is not only removing any food that can get stuck on braces but also has a high percentage of plaque removal.

Flossing Before Brushing Debate
If brushing your teeth before flossing remember that the food particles which are more difficult to remove will remain until you floss. Therefore, our recommendation is to consider using your Waterpik water flosser first before brushing your teeth. This will allow the stuck-on debris to dislodge and then you can easily brush the remaining area free of all particles.
