The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions. Now it's time to party. As is tradition, the city will do exactly that with a parade honoring the 2024 champs. The biggest question on Kansas Citian's minds this year has nothing to do with the players or even finding parking for the big event — okay, well, maybe also parking — but whether or not a certain pop star will be on one of the parade buses with tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce was spotted on the Chiefs' parade bus. His mother Donna Kelce was seen with him. Unfortunately, it looks like Taylor Swift isn't there. It looks like Swift will miss out on the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday as she gears up for her "Eras Tour" to resume in Australia. One of Swift's private jets landed in Australia early Wednesday morning. She will take the stage in Melbourne on Friday. Swift will play three back-to-back shows in Melbourne before heading to Sydney for another four shows. After Australia, the singer-songwriter will jet to Singapore for six shows. On Monday, during the city's parade prep press conference addressing safety plans, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas was asked if Taylor Swift would attend on Wednesday. “I have absolutely no comment on the whereabouts of Ms. Swift,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said. “I know she has representatives who can talk to you on all of that.”The city estimates that public parade attendance could double if the 13-time Grammy winner does make an appearance. KCPD Chief Stacey Graves told KMBC 9's Matt Evans that law enforcement is ready for the possibility of her presence. “Absolutely, we’re prepared,” Graves said. “We will have at least 600 Kansas City, Missouri, police officers in and around the route. We will have over 250 outside agencies, about 34 other law-enforcement agencies as well as our federal partners. We are ready.”One indication that Swift might be in attendance, or at least that the city is making changes in preparation for the possibility, is the parade's start location. The Chiefs' last two parades have used the Kansas City River Market as a staging area. In 2024, it will begin at the city's downtown airport —the same airport Swift's jet lands at for Chiefs gamedays. However, Swift will again have another tight turnaround if she is planning on celebrating with the city. The pop star took a 17-hour flight to make it to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas following three nights of shows in Japan. The next show in the international leg of Swift's Eras Tour is scheduled for Melbourne, Australia, at 6 p.m. this Friday. Melbourne's time zone places it 17 hours ahead of Kansas City. The earliest possible flight back from the parade to Australia would take over 20 hours and would have her landing in Australia around 5 a.m. on Friday. It's an unpleasant journey but certainly not an impossible one for the jetlagged musician. The victory parade is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 14, weather permitting. (And it looks as though weather will permit)The parade will step off at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The two-mile route will begin on Grand Boulevard at 6th Street and head south to Pershing Road before ultimately coming to a close at Union Station.
