Blending Cottage Cheese – What’s the Point?

The point is – it’s delicious! It’s also super high in protein. Blended cottage cheese takes on a whole new life. It’s thick, smooth, cheesy, and creamy. It’s similar to a Greek yogurt consistency. Cottage cheese contains small or large curds which gives it its chunky texture. So when those get blended up, it creates a delicious whipped cottage cheese.

Cottage cheese recipes can be used for a sweet or savory dip, protein breakfast bowls, cottage cheese toast, cottage cheese cookie dough, or even cheesecake.

Blending Cottage Cheese – Ingredients

Full fat cottage cheese – that’s it! You can add ingredients after it’s blended to make it sweet like honey, maple syrup, or vanilla. Or add spices and herbs to make it more savory.

But the base recipe is only one ingredient and it’s great as is!

Low-fat cottage cheese will work, but depending on the brand, may not be quite as thick and come out pretty watery. I recommend just using full-fat or 2% milk cottage cheese.

Blending Cottage Cheese – FAQ’s

Q: What can I blend with cottage cheese?

A: SO many things! For a sweet blended cottage cheese dessert, and in your favorite fruit and a drizzle of honey. Peaches, strawberries, and blueberries are a family favorite.

You can even add in protein powder and chocolate chips for a high protein dessert. Add in some chia seeds or hemp seeds for even more nutrients.

For savory recipes,

Q: Why won’t my cottage cheese blend?

A: Either your blender isn’t powerful enough or what’s most likely happening is that you just need to blend it for a longer period of time.

Q: What does blended cottage cheese taste like?

A: It still has the flavor of cottage cheese. It’s just the texture that changes. It’s the perfect blank canvas for other toppings and add-ins though! You can switch of the flavor profile in so many ways by making it sweet or savory.

Q: How can I eat cottage cheese if I don’t like the texture?

A: Blend it in a blender or food processor! The texture has more of a sour cream consistency. You can even freeze it with some fruit and that will also change the texture.

More Questions:

Q: Does blended cottage cheese taste like yogurt?

A: Nope! Pureed cottage cheese still has the flavor profile of cottage cheese. But the texture changes to a more yogurt-like consistency.

Q: Does blended cottage cheese taste better?

A: Lots of people find that they enjoy blended cottage cheese better than regular cottage cheese. Not really because of the taste, but the texture.

Q: How do you make plain cottage cheese taste good?

A: Peaches and a drizzle of honey! Or try adding some chocolate protein powder, mini chocolate chips, and some bananas. Cottage cheese as a snack is so tasty!

Q: Why is my blended cottage cheese runny?

A: Most likely it’s because you’re using low fat cottage cheese. If that’s not the case, I would try blending your cottage cheese again with a different brand.
