What are the nicest dorms at UCLA? ›

Deluxes – Deluxes are found in Sproul Cove, Sproul Landing, and De Neve Gardenia and Holly. These are usually the most sought-after dorms because they are the “perfect” middle between classics and the more expensive plazas and suites. Deluxe dorms are larger than classics and have in-unit air conditioning.

Studies show that students who live on campus perform better academically, have more contact with faculty, and are happier with their college experience than students who commute. Students can choose from several on-campus housing options, all of which encourage discovery and emphasize community.

Although the buildings do not have air conditioning, nice breezes off the ocean that is only 5 miles away, help keep temps cooler.

The UCLA classic dorms are co-ed, high-rise residence halls. There are four classic residence halls: Dykstra Hall, Hedrick Hall, Rieber Hall and Sproul Hall.

Modeled after Milan's San Ambrogio Church, constructed in the tenth and eleventh centuries, Royce Hall was named for philosopher Josiah Royce. It was built in 1929 and was one of the first campus structures.

Housing Services has the ability to assign students of different genders to the same room, in gender inclusive housing, upon request. Students interested in gender inclusive housing should indicate their interest within the housing application.

While the specific cost of board at UCLA differs based on the exact building and room that you choose, you're probably going to get more bang for your buck with UCLA off-campus housing.

Pets are strictly prohibited in all University Housing, including fish. In addition, do not bring furniture or appliances, including mini-refrigerators, washers or clothes dryers.

The plaza buildings on-campus consist of De Neve, Sunset Village, Rieber Terrace and Vista as well as Hedrick Summit. They offer a mixture of rooms with private bathrooms, and bathrooms that are shared by an adjoining room.

Keep in mind that securing a single room as a freshman might be challenging, as priority is often given to upperclassmen and students with special accommodations. When applying for housing, rank your preferences honestly, but be prepared for the possibility of not getting a single room.

The original four buildings on-campus, our classic buildings offer the high rise experience. They feature community bathrooms with 4-6 shower stalls, toilets and sinks, as well as study lounges on every floor.

The four classic halls, Dykstra, Rieber, Hedrick, and Sproul are located at each court around the Hill and have double and triple room types. The communal laundry room is located on the ground floor of each building.

They do not have a common living area like suites, but the living space is shared among fewer students. Plazas are essentially slightly larger dorm rooms featuring their own bathroom, which can either be shared amongst the room's 2-3 residents, or in some cases, between two adjacent rooms.

Olympic Hall

It was completed in 2021 and is the newest addition to the Hill's residence halls along with Centennial Hall.
