Morten Aigeltinger
Sheriff's Office offering reward for information on missing man
"It's been a little over six weeks since a missing photographer was last seen at a Manassas Park Sheetz, and now the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward for information that leads to his whereabouts.
Deputies were first informed about the disappearance of Morten Aigeltinger, 56, after he did not show up to his 1 p.m. appointment to take photos at a school in Prince William County, Va. on September 9.
Aigeltinger's employer, Victor ONeill Studios, said they had no contact with the missing man on the day of his appointment with the school.
Investigators said that the last confirmed sighting of Aigeltinger and his green 2012 Ford F-150 was at a Sheetz gas station on September 8 at 7:50 p.m."

on September 14, his vehicle was spotted on John Rissler Road, about a mile away from his home. On that day, the Sheriff's Office conducted an extensive search for Aigeltinger that involved cadaver dogs, helicopters and boats searching the banks of the Shenandoah River. But they didn’t find him, or any of his personal belongings.
Investigators also noted that there was no damage to Aigeltinger's vehicle when it was recovered.
He helps run the Rainbow Hill Farm near Charles Town, on top of being a professional photographer.
A reward of $1,000 may be given to someone who gives information leading to Aigeltinger. He is described as a white male with salt and pepper hair. He weighs around 155 pounds and is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall.

Are there any insights/comments about his pickup having sat in that location from Sep 8 (Sheetz sighting) until Sep 14 (when found 1 mile from his home)? I'm curious to know if it was driven and later dumped off there? Was it wiped clean of all fingerprints, or were Morten's prints there as if he'd parked it there?

There was no damage to the vehicle, and a search found no sign of Aigeltinger or any of his personal belongings. Sheriff's deputies, along with West Virginia State Police troopers, local fire companies and others, searched the water and banks of the Shenandoah River using boats, cadaver dogs and a CSX Corp. helicopter.

This article >>http://www.shepherdstownchronicle.c...-help-in-search-for-missing-man.html?nav=5089.. mentions that Morten lived and worked at the Rainbow Hill farm. His truck was found 1 mile from the farm. I checked the Farm's Facebook page, fairly active each month with comments, but none the month he goes missing and NO mention at all of MA, who is a resident and an employee. Interesting.

That does seem like a terribly long time for an abandoned vehicle to go unnoticed or unreported for a week considering there are several homes along the road.
I've made a map for reference of locations involved. Vehicle location is just a place marker for the road as the path is hard to see when zoomed out. I couldn't get an accurate location with the finger point briefly shown in the news clip. I also have no idea which school he was supposed to go to.

It appears to me that he was much closer to his photography employer's business than home. I wonder if he worked his photography job on the 8th?
No personal belongings doesn't necessarily mean much to me. He may have only carried a wallet and cell phone. I do wonder if the truck was locked or unlocked?
Do school photographers take home the photography equipment or would that be returned each day?

I just watched the video and it says he had shown up at the school to take pictures, but was supposed to come back the next day, so that answers one of my questions.
Also, it appears as though he wasn't just a school photographer. He's definitely a serious professional photographer and has some beautiful photos to show. It appears most of his work is people. I had briefly questioned if he was taking pictures near where his truck was found, but nothing seems to point to a history of nature shots. Certainly couldn't rule it out, but I think he would have been found if he had been injured nearby.
His last FB post mentions two weddings shortly before he was last seen.

This page has some possibly conflicting information
http://www.designfirms.org/person/11309/morten-aigeltinger/resume/
Notice he quit working for Victor O'Neill in 2006 according to his resume. What caused him to return or leave in the first place?
He also had a photography studio at some point at Takoma Park. I've added that location to the map, but not sure if it's relevant at all.
I'd love to know if they found ALL of his camera equipment at home or if some/all of it was missing.
How many people were living at this farm and how exactly is it set up? Something or rather a lack of something on sm had me scratching my head.
His vehicle was found so close to his house on a dead end road with other homes. Potential run in with someone on the farm? Violent theft? Any history of depression? Angry neighbors? Angry customer?
Sadly, it's been over a year and I can't find any updated information.

Good questions Hoosier, especially about the photo equipment. I'd never thought about the theft of the equipment as the nexus of his disappearance. The truck being left near his home is interesting, I wonder if that was the address listed on his license or registration. If not, I think it would have to be someone he knows. I still find it odd that the farm seems to have made no mention of his disappearance.

Few answers about Aigeltinger — Authorities still investigating photographer missing since ’15
It was Livingstone, who operates her Rainbow Hill Farm at the property, who called 911 to report Aigeltinger missing. Both Livingstone and her mother told police that Aigeltinger had left early the morning of Sept. 9 for a photo shoot scheduled for the afternoon in Prince William County, Va., according to the sheriff’s office.
But the fact that Aigeltinger’s camera bag – with thousands in camera equipment packed inside – was found in a dirt-floor barn on his property leads Keith to believe her friend never left for that work assignment.
“I knew him for 10 years and I think he let me touch one of his cameras once – he would never have left his cameras behind,” Keith said. “No way.”

Human remains found just off of the Appalachian Trail, approximately 10 or less miles from where Morten resided.
