This easy honey cottage cheese toast can be made in two ways: as plain honey cottage cheese toast OR dressed up to hot honey cottage cheese toast with the addition of one simple ingredient.

No matter how you choose to make it, this easy cottage cheese toast recipe is the perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors. With minimal ingredients and just about zero clean up, I can almost guarantee it will become one of your favorite high protein breakfasts to reach for!

Depending on which recipe you choose to make, you’ll only need three or four ingredients including:

1) To make plain honey cottage cheese toast:

  1. Daves Killer Bread Cinnamon Raisin Bagels: These bagels pack 12 grams of protein and have just 6 grams of added sugar.

  2. Good Culture Cottage Cheese: This is my personal favorite cottage cheese at the moment. You can use your preferred brand of cottage cheese but it may change the total protein content of this recipe slightly.

  3. Honey:

1) To make hot honey cottage cheese toast:

  1. Daves Killer Cinnamon Raisin Bagels

  2. Good Culture Cottage Cheese (or preferred brand)

  3. Honey

  4. Red Pepper Flakes: this is what give this cottage cheese toast a little spice! If you don’t have red pepper flakes, you could substitute it out for a drizzle of sriracha.

The process:

This cottage cheese toast with honey truly could not be easier to make. All you will need to do is:

1) To make plain honey cottage cheese toast:

  1. Toast your bagels until they reach your desired level of toasty.

  2. Evenly distribute your cottage cheese over each bagel half.

  3. Drizzle your honey over each half. Enjoy!

2) To make hot honey cottage cheese toast:

  1. Follow the steps above then sprinkle on your red pepper flakes. Enjoy!

  • Swap your bread: try a fun sweet bread or swap it out for a whole grain bread

  • Blend your cottage cheese: blended cottage cheese will give the mouthfeel of cream cheese and could pair better with the bagel.

  • Add fruit: You can serve fruit on the side or top your toast with sliced bananas or pears.

    1. No, you don’t HAVE too. This recipe would also be great on a whole grain bread or sourdough toast. I do think the cinnamon raisin bagels (or bread if you had it) enhance the cottage cheese with honey flavor and I highly recommend you try it!

  2. What if I don’t like the texture of cottage cheese?

    1. Not a cottage cheese texture fan? Not a problem! Simply add your cottage cheese to a blender or blender cup and blend until smooth. Blended cottage cheese will mimic the texture of cream cheese or yogurt and spread smoother onto your bagel.
