KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper was driving on eastbound I-470 when he discovered a single-vehicle crash that left one person dead.

The trooper found the crashed vehicle and called dispatch around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that an unidentified person was driving a white GMC Yukon at a “high rate of speed.” The driver attempted to exit I-470 at the Blue Ridge Boulevard exit but was going too fast and missed the ramp, driving off the side of the road to the left.

Leaving the road caused the GMC to hit a guard rail and flip several times. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. They died at the scene.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released.
