Raytown man killed in Clay County crash on I-35 (2024)

PLEASANT VALLEY, Mo. — A Raytown, Missouri man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Clay County Thursday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 35, just northeast of Pleasant Valley Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis traveled off the left side of the roadway when the vehicle became airborne and struck a concrete wall.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 79-year-old Alfred Fletcher. He was wearing a seat belt, according to MSHP.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
